Review: ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is Holland’s Best Swing Yet

Spider-Man: Brand New Day takes Peter Parker into a darker, sharper chapter, and it does it with real force. The film leans hard into the fallout from Spider-Man: No Way Home, and that choice gives the story a strong emotional spine. Tom Holland looks fully grown here, not like the skinny kid who first swung into the Marvel machine. His Peter Parker is stronger, tougher, and a lot more isolated, which fits where the character is now. The movie wastes no time reminding viewers what Peter lost. Ned and MJ no longer know him, and that pain hangs over every scene. Instead of forcing easy fixes, director Destin Daniel Cretton lets the story rebuild those bonds the hard way, which gives the film a cleaner and more honest shape. That choice pays off when the action starts to build. Peter is dealing with a dangerous enemy, broken trust, and strange changes in his own powers, and the pressure keeps climbing. The setup is simple enough, but it works because it gives Spider-Man a real problem to solve instead of just another noisy fight.
