Sam Neill, the New Zealand actor best known for playing Dr. Alan Grant in Jurassic Park, died earlier this week from pneumonia, according to his representative. He was 78. The news stunned fans and colleagues, especially after Neill had recently been declared cancer free following a 2022 diagnosis of stage 3 blood cancer. Neill’s longtime representative, Philip Grenz, told Entertainment Weekly that the actor’s death was sudden and unexpected. Grenz also revealed that Neill stayed busy up to the end, completing four film projects over the past year that are set to release in the coming months. Two of those projects are already known. Neill wrapped production on The Last Resort, a romantic comedy directed by Donald Petrie, known for Miss Congeniality. The film also stars Daisy Ridley and Alden Ehrenreich. He also appears in a supporting role in Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, which is scheduled to hit theaters in March 2027.
