Spider-Man: Brand New Day stormed into theaters last Wednesday night with special screenings, then rolled into Thursday previews and crushed expectations fast. The film pulled in $72 million over two days of previews, setting a new all-time preview record and beating Avengers: Endgame’s $60 million haul from April 25, 2019. That was only the start. Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day finished the weekend with $355 million, putting it just shy of the North American opening mark set by Avengers: Endgame, which still holds the three-day record at $357.1 million. While analysts did not expect Avengers: Doomsday to come anywhere close to that kind of money, Spider-Man: Brand New Day showed just how strong the wall-crawler still is at the box office. To be fair, even with inflation factored in, Avengers: Endgame would have earned about $78 million in previews, so this was no small feat, even if the comparison is not perfect. Worldwide, the movie added $572 million from 66 international markets for a global opening of $927 million.
