Ahead of one of the most momentous Spider-Man comic book releases so far, John Romita Jr. has revealed his cover for Amazing Spider-Man #1000 variant cover.
In a post on social media, Romita Jr. wrote: "I'm so excited to share my Amazing Spider-Man 1000 variant cover with you all! Scott Hanna did an amazing job on the ink and colors! What a way to celebrate 30 years of working together and a huge milestone for the Spider-Man franchise!"
CBR was given the privilege of presenting an early look at Amazing Spider-Man #1000, revealing a page from the comic itself for anxious readers. Brian Michael Bendis said to the publication, "What an incredible honor to be part of this jam-packed and absolutely gorgeous anniversary celebration of this character that means so much to all of us. Re-teaming with Stuart Immonen, one of the very best to have ever done it, is a dream come true. I am so honored to have made so many Marvel comics with him over the years, and I used this grand opportunity to try to give him something that hits on all of his many strengths. He took it and made something exquisite."
Marvel Comics isn't holding back their excitment when looking forward to Peter Parker's biggest adventure in print media yet. "Spider-Man faces his greatest fear and his most frightening new villain in decades... RAVAGE!" The solicit enthusiastically reads, "Plus, some of the greatest creative minds on Earth honor one thousand issues of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN! John Romita Jr. Will Be Included in Amazing Spider-Man #1000, Despite Some Previous Confusion

A misunderstanding made it seem like Romita Jr. would not be included in Marvel's massive roundup for Amazing Spider-Man #1000, though the publisher was quick to address the worries from fans through an official statement.
“Our announcement of the added Pepe Larraz cover seems to have been misunderstood. In addition to John Romita Jr. and Paolo Rivera’s jam cover, we also wanted to highlight the ‘#1000’ more concretely, hence Pepe’s cover with color artist Marte Gracia,” Editor Nick Lowe explained, per Marvel Comics. “Our goal is to bring as many legendary Spider-Man artists together for this monumental celebration.”
Romita Jr. also expressed how thrilled he was to be featured on Amazing Spider-Man #1000. "“What a pleasure it’s been to see readers celebrate my work on Amazing Spider-Man over the years and show support for the cover I did with Paolo Rivera for the upcoming issue #1000!” Romita Jr. shared. “I’m honored to work on yet another milestone issue for Spidey, and this one is especially big—so big that it has not one but two primary covers, one by me and one by my fellow Amazing Spider-Man artist, Pepe Larraz! I hope everyone enjoys the issue; it’s going to be unforgettable!”
Romita Jr. will be joined by some of Marvel Comics' top Spider-Man creators in one major celebratory issue of Amazing Spider-Man. Amazing Spider-Man #1000 releases on Sept. 16.
