Hey there, Spidey fans! It’s good to see you again! It’s finally starting to feel like Summer where I live, and I hope you guys are able to enjoy this nice weather, too. I got to thinking about some things to do when it’s nice outside, and something that came to mind was going out for a nice, relaxing drive. That’s when it hit me in regards to what I should write about this month: ToyBiz’s Motorized Vehicles!
I had this entire sub-line as a kid, even though vehicles aren’t usually something associated with Spider-Man, like, say, Batman (despite doing an article focusing on the vehicles in Spider-Man’s world). That said, these were a load of fun, and saw a lot of use during my childhood! Let’s take a look…
Motorized Hobgoblin Pumpkin Bomber

We took a brief look at this figure in my look at the Top 10 Hobgoblin Action Figures (which you can check out when you finish reading this), but I thought we should take another look at this guy. Out of all of the vehicles on this list, this one undoubtedly got used the most by me. While the included Hobgoblin figure only had neck articulation, you could put other Hobgoblin figures on the footpegs, which I did often. Simply load in the missiles, pull back on the glider while it’s on a flat surface, and watch him launch forward while shooting off his pumpkin bomb missiles. As you can tell, this figure was a lot of fun!
Motorized Venom Assault Racer

It’s no semi-truck, but Venom’s ride does still look pretty awesome. Pull the vehicle back, and Venom will drive forward before the canopy opens to reveal the slobbering, symbiotic villain! It’s a cool feature for a cool design.
Motorized Spider-Man Wheelie Cycle

Villains riding around in vehicles is one thing, but Spider-Man on a bike makes little sense. That said, this vehicle was great for what it was. Press forward on the bike several times, press the bike seat down, and watch Spidey take off! Stand the bike up, balancing on its tailpipes instead, and watch Spidey do the advertised wheelies! The bike itself has a neat design thanks to its sculpted-on weblines!
Motorized Hydro-Jet Spider-Man

Oddly enough, I can rationalize Spider-Man having a water-based vehicle as opposed to a cycle of some kind; maybe he’s gotta duke it out with Hydro-Man or head for a showdown at the Master Planner’s hydro-base. This vehicle features water firing action, pontoons to keep it afloat, and a wind-up motor for actual driving in the water. This ride fits most 5” -scaled Spider-Man figures, though none were included.
Motorized Hydro-Jet Venom

Venom also has a Hydro-Jet because… reasons. I guess he just really enjoys fighting Spider-Man, regardless of the environment. Aside from the design, Venom’s water ride does the exact same things as Spidey’s water vehicle. This one also does not come with a figure.
Did you guys own any of these growing up? What did you think of them? Let me know in the comments section below!
