The following contains major spoilers for Star Trek: Omega #1, on sale June 18 from IDW Publishing.
The next era of Star Trek comics is almost here, and things have never looked more hopeful than they do now.
A new preview for Star Trek: Omega #1 from IDW Publishing drops readers into the immediate aftermath of the recently concluded Lore War storyline. Aboard the U.S.S. Theseus, Benjamin Sisko and his son, Jake, discuss their shared experiences from the time when Lore bent the very fabric of reality to his will. All the while, Worf is being forced to relive his own recent misadventures due to a hearing before Starfleet Command, during which he is effectively forced back into his role as the commander of the Defiant, with no chance of ever being officially reinstated into his proper position. At least, not until Captain Jean-Luc Picard shows up to make sure that Worf is returned to his usual duties, and that someone else within Starfleet Command pays the price for trying to prevent that in the first place.

Star Trek: Omega marks the conclusion of multiple major comic book storylines that have played out over nearly the past three years. While IDW Publishing began their Star Trek run back in 2007, it was with the release of the series' 400th issue that things were shaken up in numerous major ways. The anthology issue was more than just a milestone occasion for IDW Publishing; it helped set up what has been years of stories since, which have played out in the pages of several different comic book titles, namely Star Trek and Star Trek: Defiant.
One of the biggest of these storylines involved Ben Sisko's own journey towards godhood, which was set against the backdrop of a deicidal rampage led by none other than the cloned Klingon Emperor Kahless II and his cult-like army known as the Red Path. This epic storyline came to a head in 2023 with the release of Star Trek: Day of Blood. In the time since, the leading casts of IDW Publishing's Star Trek universe have faced off against threats ranging from the Borg to the Tzenkethi Coalition to the Gods themselves, with each step along the way opening the doors to even bigger things to come. Quite possibly the biggest of these was Lore War, during which the malevolent positronic android known as Lore attained veritable godhood for himself and stripped nearly any and every semblance of free will from the galaxy. Of course, Lore's quest for total domination was ultimately dashed by the heroes of the Star Trek universe, who now have their futures to look forward to once again.

Black Cat and Mystique Lead This Year's Giant-Sized Pride Issue
Marvel Comics is putting Mystique, Destiny, and Black Cat in the middle of the action in this year's upcoming Pride special.
Per the official synopsis for Star Trek: Omega from IDW Publishing, "Two and a half years of comics spanning 60 years of Star Trek history, a fair few awards, and more than a few universe detonations, and it’s all been coming to this... Star Trek: Omega is the denouement of the critically acclaimed Star Trek and Star Trek: Defiant storylines, and the first glimpse at all that comes next. The crews of the Theseus, Defiant, and Enterprise set to work restoring the universe to what it should be after the evil android Lore’s intervention. Each hero finds peace in preordained or unexpected ways, with individual scenes depicted by one of Star Trek’s or Defiant’s mainline artists! This finale pays tribute to all those involved in the series, which Screen Rant calls 'the gold standard for ambitious comic book storytelling.'"
