“The Serpent Ring – Part 02: Deliver Us Into Evil”
An ancient evil has taken control of the Sao Mancos Mission and Father Goncallo doesn’t seem to be the same person. As his flock begins to rebuild a new, across the African plain and ocean divide, Solomon Kane has kept his promise by delivering an serpentine artifact to Abramo Bensaid. But is it real?
As divine providence would have it, the Jewish scholar recognizes the snake statue as nothing more than a modern forgery. Why would his friend, Paolo Laurenti, be so desperate for him to receive such an object? Diamanta Bensaid, the daughter of Paolo and equally astute wise owl, unlocked its secrets under the light of an oil lamp.
Will Solomon Kane join the Bensaid family on a new expedition into the dark jungles held by Ndongo savages? Who is the mysterious stranger lurking near the Sao Mancos Mission? Do all gods crave unquestionable obedience?
“Solomon Kane – The Puritan Avenger In The Shadow Of The Serpent”
We are given part one of writer Jeffrey Shanks’ excellent history of Solomon Kane. Considered one of Robert E Howard’s most haunting characters, Kane stands apart from his barbaric counterparts. In this article you will discover all you need to know about Howard’s 16th century Puritan steeped in righteous indignation.
Reviewer Notes
When I began reading this series, I never expected Patrick Zircher to outperform the awesomeness that is Conan the Barbarian. But here is the proof that Robert E Howard was not a one-trick pony. Solomon Kane is just as intriguing as Kull and Conan. Zircher does an amazing job connecting his readers with Solomon Kane’s world of Renaissance enlightenment. I give this issue five out of five stars.
