"Superman" Earns Multiple Craft Shortlists Ahead of 31st Critics Choice Awards

Posted on November 25, 2025 by Neil Cole

"Superman" (2025) continues to build awards-season momentum as the Critics Choice Association has named the film to multiple craft shortlists, recognizing its exceptional achievements across several key production disciplines. The 2025 blockbuster appears on the Hair & Makeup, Sound, Visual Effects, and Stunt Design shortlists, marking a strong showing for the film's behind-the-scenes creative teams.

The recognition reflects the scale and precision of the work that shaped director James Gunn's reimagining of the Man of Steel. From its practical and digital effects to its immersive soundscape and carefully executed stunt sequences, "Superman" (2025) has earned praise for the craftsmanship that helped define its striking cinematic identity.

This year, the Critics Choice Association introduced publicly released artisan shortlists for the first time, narrowing each category ahead of formal nominations. More than 500 voting members are now evaluating the contenders, with six finalists to be selected in each craft field.

Warner Bros. leads all studios with a commanding presence across the newly announced shortlists, and "Superman" (2025) stands prominently among the projects contributing to that strong performance. The film's placement across four categories positions it as a significant contender as the awards season progresses.

Final nominations will be confirmed ahead of the 31st annual Critics Choice Awards, which will take place on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. Winners will be announced during the ceremony.
