A new action figure from the upcoming Superman movie line of toys confirms one major fan theory regarding a mysterious character's true identity.

Per a May 15 X(Twitter) post from fan page DCU Updates, fans can get some up-close looks at one of the incoming tie-in action figures for James Gunn's Superman. More importantly, the box art explicitly names the fully masked figure as "DC's Ultraman," confirming that the character is indeed some version of the iconic DC Comics supervillain.

Ice Cream Man Creators Plan to Take a Bite Out of Superman in Anticipated Series

An exciting new Superman project geared towards adult audiences in DC's Black Label line from the creators of Ice Cream Man was just announced!

First seen back in 1964's Justice League of America #29 by Gardner Fox and Mike Sekowsky, the interdimensional villain known as Ultraman is a twisted, parallel version of fans' beloved Superman. A member of the Crime Syndicate, Ultraman is a near-unstoppable and infinitely relentless figure who helped his fellow villains lay complete and total claim to their world. While the character has been reimagined across numerous iterations of the DC Universe, the version being introduced in James Gunn's Superman film easily marks the most enigmatic yet, thanks to his full-body armor and face mask.

Written and directed by Gunn, Superman stars David Corenswet as the titular hero alongside a star-studded ensemble cast. Superman will also star Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, not to mention a whole host of superpowered featured players. These include Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt/Mister Terrific, and Anthony Carrigan as Rex Mason, better known as the shapeshifting Metamorpho. Superman is currently set to arrive in theaters on July 11.

Acclaimed writer Scott Snyder hypes up the next issue of DC's Absolute Batman and the fan-favorite villain who will be making his mark within.

Hoult himself recently revealed that he had originally auditioned for the role of Superman, and that he knew exactly when he lost out on the part to Corenswet. Hoult recalled walking out of an audition on the Warner Bros. studio lot in Hollywood to the sight of Corenswet "sitting in the sunlight, just like Superman does to charge up, to get his powers back. I looked at him and I was like, 'Wow! That's Superman." Hoult went on to note that he had early inklings that he might be a good read for Lex Luthor in the film, and that he almost instantly connected with the part after rereading the film's script.

Superman is set to soar into theaters everywhere on July 11.
