The GODZILLA VS AMERICA: LOS ANGELES one-shot is raising money for comic shops effected by the LA fires

IDW Publishing has announced that all of the proceeds for its upcoming book, Godzilla Vs America: Los Angeles, will be donated to a charity that helps comic shops and bookstores in the Los Angeles area that were impacted by the recent fires.

This book is the second issue of the Godzilla Vs America anthology miniseries, following the successful and critically-acclaimed Godzilla Vs America: Chicago, and its final order cut-off is this coming Monday, March 24, ahead of its release on April 30. All of the proceeds from the issue will be donated to the Book Industry Charitable Foundation, a charity focused on helping provide for book stores and comic book shops facing economic difficulty.

IDW Publishing states:

Join us in Giving Back. 100% of proceeds from this comic support Binc’s response to the wildfires and beyond for our community.

The issue features work by Gabriel Hardman (Green Lantern: Earth One), J. Gonzo (La Mano del Destino), Jordan Morris (Bubble), Dave Baker (Mary Tyler Moorehawk) and Nicole Goux (Shadow of the Batgirl). Godzilla Vs America is the latest miniseries published by IDW in collaboration with Godzilla rights holders Toho. When Godzilla gets finished with Los Angeles, he is next slated to rampage in New England, with Godzilla Vs America: Boston.

Having read the issue myself, I can attest that it has great work from all the creators involved. The sheer premise of this anthology allows for a lot of flexibility and creativity, and that continues to show in the exciting second issue, where every story feels tonally and artistically different from each other whilst all still feeling like fun and interesting takes on the King of the Monsters. Godzilla has a lot of stories, and it takes a lot to stand out, but this miniseries so far is showing just how possible it still is to craft unique takes on the legendary kaiju. A particular standout for me was Gabriel Hardman’s incredible opening story, which focuses on a human perspective of a destructive kaiju sequence. It is well worth checking out for Godzilla fans or anyone curious, especially given that the proceeds are going to a good cause.

The book features a main cover by Gabriel Hardman, as well as variants by J. Gonzo and Dave Baker, all of which you can check out below…
