The Superman World Tour continued its flight across the globe with a spectacular stop in Rio de Janeiro on June 23, as director James Gunn and stars David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan brought the energy of DC's most iconic hero to one of the world's most vibrant cities.
As the second destination in the global campaign for "Superman", set to hit theaters July 11, Rio de Janeiro provided a dazzling stage for a series of events that ignited excitement throughout Brazil. From a breathtaking photocall at the Christ the Redeemer statue to an unforgettable "SuperCabana" celebration at the Copacabana Palace, the city was transformed into a superhero haven.
Fans were treated to exclusive first looks during a special screening at Cine Odeon, where a 30-minute preview of the film revealed new scenes featuring Corenswet's Superman and Brosnahan's Lois Lane. The footage also offered glimpses of Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor and a fan-favorite surprise - Krypto the Super-Dog, inspired by Gunn's own rescue dog, Ouzo.
Earlier in the day, Gunn, Corenswet, and Brosnahan met with press at the Casa de Santa Teresa, where they shared insights about the making of the film and its importance in launching a new era for the DC Universe. Producer Peter Safran was also on hand to emphasize the global vision for this new Superman, marking a fresh start under DC Studios' leadership.
The decision to include Rio in the tour underscores Brazil's significance as a thriving pop culture hub. Known for events like CCXP and a deeply passionate fanbase, the country has firmly established itself as a vital part of the international entertainment landscape. Warner Bros. embraced this enthusiasm, with the Christ the Redeemer photocall lighting up social media and the "Olhe para cima" ("Look Up") campaign resonating across platforms.
The energy from Brazilian fans was palpable, as crowds dressed in Superman attire flooded downtown Rio and shared their experiences across social media. The event quickly became a trending topic on X, with fans praising the cast's engagement and Gunn's accessibility as a filmmaker who truly values the audience.
Next, the Superman World Tour heads to London on July 2, followed by Paris (July 4), Los Angeles (July 7), New York City (July 9), and Beijing (July 10), ahead of the film's highly anticipated global debut.
As the sun sets on Rio, the legacy of the Man of Steel rises higher than ever, fueled by the city's warmth, its stunning landmarks, and the boundless spirit of Brazilian fandom.
"Superman" opens worldwide on July 11, 2025, in theaters and IMAX. Join the celebration online with #Superman and follow the journey across the globe.
