2 weeks ago 11

Marvel's most infamous power couple is on the verge of reuniting, but that doesn't mean they are getting back together.

A preview of Vision & Scarlet Witch #1 from Marvel Comics finds Wanda Maximoff standing face-to-face with one of the most impossible entities imaginable - The-Powers-That-Be. While Wanda has come seeking information regarding the location of the recently freed Dark Elder God (and her own personal nemesis) Chthon, The-Powers-That-Be aren't interested in giving the Scarlet Witch any help they don't absolutely have to. Worse still, a gang of quite literally death-defying bikers has shown up at the sight of a new supernatural anomaly in Wanda's current home of Lotkill, New York, which her ex-husband Vision decides is as good a time as any to make an appearance.

Wanda and Vision have a long romantic history stretching back to their days as Avengers together. While Wanda had already joined and left Earth's Mightiest Heroes long before Vision became a member of the team in 1968's Avengers #58 by Roy Thomas and John Buscema, it wasn't long before she reclaimed her place on the team's roster and, subsequently, got the chance to spend long periods with her future husband. Over five years, Wanda and Vision met, fell in love, and were wed in an unforgettable ceremony that kicked off one of the most infamous eras in Marvel Comics history.

In 1985, the second volume of Marvel Comics' The Vision and Scarlet Witch series (by Steven Englehart and Richard Howell) debuted. It was in this series that Wanda gave birth to her and Vision's sons, Thomas and William. They were eventually revealed to be manifestations of Wanda's own powers given life via shards of infernal essence stolen from the demon Mephisto. In the decades since, Tommy and Billy have lived, died, been reborn, and come into their own as the iconic young heroes known as Speed and Wiccan.

Daredevil is Being Forced to Relive His Worst Enemy’s Own Death – And It Is Heartbreaking

Daredevil's new nightmare is one that he cannot escape, and even if he could, the tragedy behind it will never stop haunting him.

Wanda made the move to Lotkill at the outset of her current ongoing series back in 2023. There, she opened the small occult shop known as the Emporium. While the Emporium offers all manner of herbal remedies, talismans, and readings, it is, more importantly, home to the Last Door. This enchanted doorway appears to those who quite literally have nowhere else to turn for one reason or another, allowing them a pathway to step right into the Scarlet Witch's shop and ask for her help with whatever problem might be ailing them.

Vision & Scarlet Witch #1 will be available May 21 from Marvel Comics.
