Twelve state attorneys general, led by California’s AG Rob Bonta, filed a federal antitrust lawsuit in July 2026 to block Paramount Skydance’s $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, arguing the merger would reduce competition in theatrical film distribution and cable licensing, raise prices for consumers, and harm movie theaters and industry workers. But Attorney General Bonta isn’t saving Hollywood. He’s hurting it. His coalition includes the attorneys general of Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, and Washington, who together filed a joint lawsuit to block the $110 billion Paramount–Warner Bros. merger.
