Dynamite Entertainment has been amazing fans in recent years with some of the most outlandishly awesome crossover concepts, leveraging its strong licensed deals to mix some properties that you would never in a million years imagine would cross over with each other, and that sense of adventure continues with its newest crossover event, Archie vs. The Terminator.
Following in the footsteps of Dynamite's recent Archie X Army of Darkness crossover, the beloved gang of teens from Riverdale will be forced to help to protect a brand-new transfer student, John Connor, from some killer robots from the future! The five-issue series will be written by Rory McConville, and drawn by longtime Archie artist, Steven Butler, who is working with his daughter, Lily Buttler, on the art.
What is the Archie vs. The Terminator About?
The basic concept for the series is, as notes, John Connor enrolls in Riverdale High, and so when the Terminators come for him, he will have some new classmates who will help him out against the killer robots. And, of course, his mother, Sarah Connor, is by his side, as well.
it is interesting to see the iconic characters from the Terminator films done in the classic Dan Decarlo-esque Archie style of artwork, as the Butlers do an awesome job of keeping the characters familiar while making them very much feel part of the Archie Comics universe.
What Do the Creators Have to Say About Archie vs. The Terminator?
Writer Rory McConville noted of the series, "Archie crossovers hold a very special place in comics, so I'm thrilled to be writing the gang's first (maybe last?!) encounter with The Terminator. Enrolling John Connor at Riverdale High felt like the perfect way to bring these two iconic franchises together and I can't wait for readers to see what we have in store."
Steven Butler added, "When I got the invite to draw the Archie vs. The Terminator mini-series, I was deeply honored and excited at the same time. I’ve always loved most the Archie stories that put the gang into some sort of overwhelming peril that they had to try to get themselves out of and now this mini-series gives us the opportunity to tell that kind of story I love so much! The icing on the cake is the fact that I get to work with my daughter Lily on this project — what more could a proud dad want?"
Lily Butler also chimed in to note, ""This story marks my first time working for Dynamite, and working on a full miniseries. I’m super excited to be working on characters that I’m very familiar with like the Archie crew and other characters that are new to me. I think we’re working up a really cool project and I’m excited for everyone to see!"

Archie vs. The Terminator #1 is set to be released this fall.
