Kite-Man fans around the world get some particularly upsetting news from industry icon Tom King.

As noted by King in a June 17 post on Threads, the hotly anticipated Kite-Man figure from McFarlane Toys' Gold Label has already sold out in pre-order sales. King himself expressed some remorse about not being able to secure a figure early before declaring, "Damnit I'm going to find one." King added, "I'm just looking for the right expression to capture my enthusiasm at this development."

The original iteration of the character appeared in the opening story from 1960's Batman #133, "Crimes of Kite-Man," by Bill Finger, Dick Sprang, Charles Paris, and Stan Starkman. As a child, Charles Brown was fascinated with kites, which was only further emboldened in his adulthood. Eventually, Charles embarked upon a career as a costumed criminal under the guise of Kite-Man. Unsurprisingly, Kite-Man's many attempts at carrying out high-flying heists were easily thwarted by the likes of Batman, Robin, and Zatanna.

In 2016, Kite-Man was reintroduced in Legends of Tomorrow #4, albeit in the form of a monument rather than in the flesh. Soon enough, however, Kite-Man was taking center stage in DC Comics titles like Batman, where he played a prominent role in the 2017 "The War of Jokes and Riddles" storyline. Since then, Kite-Man has been catapulted into the upper echelons of pop culture stardom thanks to appearances in shows like Harley Quinn and even his own spinoff series, Kite-Man: Hell Yeah!

This Fan-Favorite Superman Show with a Perfect 100% RT Score is Planning a Streaming Marathon Ahead of James Gunn's Movie

Adult Swim is about to give fans of Superman an entire marathon of one of the franchise's most highest rated animated series of all time.

While a second season of Kite-Man: Hell Yeah! has yet to materialize, the events of the series' first season went a long way towards setting up the events of the recently released fifth season of Harley Quinn. Shortly after the release of Kite-Man: Hell Yeah! back in 2024, showrunner Dean Lorey explained the relative absence of Harley Quinn from the spinoff of her own show. Lorey noted that the creative team behind the spinoff "really were trying to carve [Kite Man: Hell Yeah!] out as its own thing in that world, thou we did like the idea of Harley and Ivy having a cameo in the first episode to sort of hand it off to our new folks."
