Jeff Parker gets a turn on the T-Bolts series. Rather than start with a big story arc, he focuses on what he does best: Character moments. This team has been riddled with betrayals—most recently, when Ghost erased Mister X’s memories to protect a group of Thunderbolts who had helped Black Widow escape from Norman Osborn.
Apparently, a side-effect of this memory wipe is that X goes a little nuts and uses the team’s teleportation device to go kill guerillas in Venezuela.
It becomes a combat mission, but right in the middle Osborn has the team extracted so they can go on a mission to kill the Agents of Atlas—which is the team that Jeff Parker has been working with for the past year.
This issue confirms that Ghost is doing everything he can to undermine The Thunderbolts, but careful readers already knew that. It’s mostly just a one-off that gives Parker a little “get familiar” time with his new toys.
