We are heading into a period where each issue of UXM tells pieces of larger stories, without clearly defined story arcs. Nothing wrong with that–it actually hearkens back to some of the better runs of X-books (e.g., the Chris Claremont days). It does make it harder to write about for a blog, though.
Anyway, in these issues the X-Men deal with the attack on Utopia from the prior story arc. Emma Frost’s mind is still blocked by The Void–the dark entity that lives inside of Sentry but which I had always though was supposed to be a fantasy manifestation of Sentry’s own subconscience. I don’t love that it’s a real thing now, but here we are. Cyclops travels into Frost’s mind to try to trick Void into leaving and faces a dozen versions of Emma. It works, but then the Void jumps into Cyclops’ mind. Fortunately, Scott is able to contain it.
Also in these issues, Magneto decides to build a pillar-home under Utopia, for the Atlanteans, that will also ensure the island doesn’t sink back to the bottom of the ocean.
Beast doesn’t seem to like the way things are going so he quits.

There’s some hand-wringing and discussion around it, but I honestly don’t get what his deal is here. Anyway, he’s a team-player. He’ll be back. And we get a tribute cover out of his departure.

Madison Jeffries discovers tiny nanobots all over the island nation–invaders–who he believes were part of the attempted invasion by the Predators X in the last story arc.
And there is a predator X killing young mutants in New York City. Fantomex investigates. More on that next issue.
