Pop culture is a never-ending world of updates, teases, trailers, and hopefully releases. What’s New Wednesday is Dorkaholics’ way to keep us all up to date with what’s new across comics, TV, film, games, and more! This week, the focus is on Brick, Zombies 4, Madea’s Destination Wedding, and The Running Man.
- Brick – Trailer
Imagine waking up suddenly sealed inside of your apartment by a black wall, with the only way out through your place being through the walls you share with your neighbors as well as the floor beneath you. There’s no explanation. Is this a sick prank? The latest reality television plot? Divine intervention? The premise has me curious so you know I’ve added Brick to my list on Netflix.
Release Date: On Netflix on July 10, 2025
Synopsis: Tim (Matthias Schweighöfer) and Olivia (Ruby O. Fee) awake trapped in their apartment behind an impenetrable, futuristic wall which has materialized overnight… and they are not alone. The entire building and its residents seem to be enclosed. What happened overnight? Who built that wall and why? Without any chance of outside help, they must band together to find a way out. Can they solve the mystery of the wall in time and survive?
- Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires – Teaser
As someone who grew up with Disney Channel Original Movies, Zombies 4 as well the franchise as a whole is giving Halloweentown meets Camp Rock and High School Musical. Yet, there’s not any nostalgiabait in play here, so good on Disney for continuing to build on a new franchise.
Release Date: On Disney Channel on July 10, 2025 and on Disney+ on July 11, 2025
Synopsis: In the first three “ZOMBIES” movies, Zed and Addison brought human and monsterkind together in their hometown of Seabrook. Now, a new adventure dawns for the duo when their summer road trip takes an unexpected detour, landing them in the middle of yet another monster rivalry: Daywalkers vs. Vampires. Tensions flare when Zed and Addison find themselves acting as camp counselors between the two opposing supernatural factions. With the help of Eliza and Willa, they must convince sworn enemies Nova and Victor to try to unite their warring worlds before an even greater threat endangers them all.
- Madea’s Destination Wedding – Trailer
This is the second Madea film to be released by Netflix but who’s keeping track of this character. Tyler Perry continues to breathe incredible life to this character after 26 years, and one can only imagine the hilary that will emerge when the story takes the family to the Bahamas for a back to back bachelor/bachelorette party followed by the wedding.
Release Date: On Netflix on July 11, 2025
Synopsis: Brian and his ex-wife Debrah are shocked to learn their daughter Tiffany is engaged to a rapper she met on a yacht—and the wedding is in two weeks. Madea and her crew head to the Bahamas, stirring up chaos and heartwarming fun.
- The Running Man – Trailer
What in the Hunger Games?! The Running Man stars Glen Powell as your typical down on his luck, jobless father in need of money. And in the world of this film, there’s a show he’ll sign up to be part of for the chance to make money. However, he’ll be hunted down by assassins with the challenge of surviving 30 days. It feels like the action and stakes of John Wick with its comedy dialed up to that of Deadpool. Sounds like a winning combination!
Release Date: In theaters on November 7, 2025
Synopsis: In a near-future society, The Running Man is the top-rated show on television—a deadly competition where contestants, known as Runners, must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins, with every move broadcast to a bloodthirsty public and each day bringing a greater cash reward. Desperate to save his sick daughter, working-class Ben Richards (Glen Powell) is convinced by the show’s charming but ruthless producer, Dan Killian (Josh Brolin), to enter the game as a last resort. But Ben’s defiance, instincts, and grit turn him into an unexpected fan favorite—and a threat to the entire system. As ratings skyrocket, so does the danger, and Ben must outwit not just the Hunters, but a nation addicted to watching him fall.

I'm a self-proclaimed "professional dork." I've always been drawn to the creative and imaginative worlds found in comic books, video games, and other forms of entertainment, and I believe that these stories and characters have the power to inspire and bring people together. Through Dorkaholics, I've had the opportunity to attend conventions, interview some of my favorite artists and creators, and connect with a community of like-minded individuals who share my passion for all things dorky. When I'm not writing about the latest pop culture trends, you can usually find me playing video games, reading comic books, or exploring new fandoms. I'm thrilled to be able to share my love of pop culture with the world through Dorkaholics, and I hope to continue to inspire and entertain fellow dorks for years to come.
