Imperial, the mini series from Jonathan Hickman, Iban Coello, and Federico Vicentini, has been one of the bright spots in Marvel’s never ending event series. Following a variety of cosmic superheroes, Black Panther, and various Hulks, the mystery of who wants to destabilize galactic politics energized this area of the Marvel Universe for the first time in a long time. It’s a space opera in a way that only Hickman can tell it added considerably by the art of his collaborators Coello and Vicentini. Marvel clearly have a hit on their hands here with issue two scheduled to come out next week.
Like any event, Imperial naturally has spin offs, one shots, and tie in issues. The tie-in Imperial War, five one shots co-written by Hickman, will follow various characters in different theaters of war as this conflict spreads across the galaxy. So far four of the five have been announced; Planet She Hulk, Black Panther, Nova – Centurion, and Exiles. Now Marvel teases the announcement of the final one and it looks like a doozy.
The teaser shows Kl’rt the Super Skrull with a quote about how he’s made a mockery of the Skrulls and their religious fervor. The other one shots will focus on other planets and galactic players (Space Wakanda, the Shi’ar, Nova Corp, etc) so one that focuses on the Skrulls was bound to happen. How things have changed for the Skrulls and what possible role they play in the chaos happening in the galaxy looks like it may be covered here? And who will be documenting this? We’ll find out tomorrow.
Anyways, it’s a one shot featuring Super Skrull. Everyone should love Super Skrull. He’s a Skrull who can shape shift and also has the combined powers of the Fantastic Four. Also he can hypnotize folks. Super Skrull is great.
