WONDER WOMAN #25 debuts a major new foe for the Amazon warrior

Two years ago, writer Tom King and artist Daniel Sampere launched a new volume of Wonder Woman with a storyline that introduced a major new nemesis for the Amazon warrior known as the the Sovereign. It looks like the creative team is set to introduce another new foe to the superhero’s rogues gallery with the Matriarch debuting next month on September 17, 2025, in Wonder Woman #25 by Tom King and Daniel Sampere.

Here’s what DC teased: 

After days of searching through a mouse-infested world, Wonder Woman finally locates the lost Etta Candy and fugitive Amazon Emilie. Little does she know, they are hiding a tiny harbinger of death who will change Diana’s fate forever!

According to the publisher, the Matriarch’s first appearance in the oversize anniversary issue of Wonder Woman #25 available next month “will set the stage for all Wonder Woman stories to come.”
