A two-issue miniseries? Hm. Well, there have been some good ones in the past and it’s still got Jeff Parker writing. Plus, the first issue has a full-length lead story and then a 12-page backup with art by the great Chris Samnee. All signs point to something good.
The main story takes place during the X-Men’s move to Utopia Island. While they’re preoccupied, the Agents of Atlas attempt to sneak in and use Cerebra to see if it can track down Venus, who has gone missing.
The X-Men realize what the Agents are doing and they’re not thrilled.

The back-up story puts writer Parker back where he is best: With the original X-Men, writing a “First Class” type story flashing back to the X-Men’s first meeting with the AoA, where the Agents kill Jean Grey. It ties to the present-day adventure when Jimmy Woo realizes that they are in a time loop. They break free, track Venus, and find she’s been taken by Aphrodite.
This leads to the second story in issue #2, which involves bondage and branding.

That’s hot. Pun intended.
The Agents free their teammate, but Aphrodite’s efforts to brand Venus will develop further in the Assault on New Olympus event. This mini, it turns out, is kind of a lead-in.
