Xolo Maridueña is returning to the DC Universe, reprising his role as Jaime Reyes, also known as Blue Beetle, in DC Studios' upcoming feature film "Man of Tomorrow", the next chapter in the studio's evolving Superman saga. The casting reunites Maridueña with the franchise following his starring role in 2023's "Blue Beetle", making him one of the few actors from the previous era of DC films to continue portraying the same character under the current DC Studios leadership.

"Man of Tomorrow", written and directed by James Gunn, is scheduled for theatrical release on July 9, 2027. The film will see David Corenswet return as Superman alongside Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, with Rachel Brosnahan reprising her role as Lois Lane. Reports indicate the story will bring together several established heroes from the expanding DC Universe as Superman and Luthor confront the formidable threat of Brainiac.

Maridueña's return further reinforces DC Studios' long-term plans for Jaime Reyes. Although Blue Beetle debuted prior to the official launch of the new DC Universe, DC Studios co-chair James Gunn has previously identified the character as an important part of the franchise's future, and an animated Blue Beetle series remains in development.

The announcement expands an increasingly high-profile ensemble cast for Man of Tomorrow, which is currently in production. Along with Corenswet, Hoult and Brosnahan, the film is expected to feature returning appearances from several heroes introduced in Superman, continuing DC Studios' strategy of building an interconnected cinematic universe while bringing fan-favorite characters together on screen.
