The following contains major spoilers for Absolute Flash #9, on sale November 19 from DC Comics.

DC Comics' Absolute Flash just found a new home for himself right alongside the very same Rogues who made his life Hell.

A preview of Absolute Flash #9 (by Jeff Lemire, Nick Robles, Adriano Lucas, and Tom Napolitano) from DC Comics finds Wally West staring down the same Rogues who previously chased him relentlessly across the desert. Surprisingly, the Rogues aren't looking for a fight this time around, at least not one against the Flash. Instead, they have come looking for the Flash in the hopes that he will join them in rescuing his father from the clutches of Doctor Elenore Thawne, and all it takes is a little reassurance from Grodd to convince the Scarlet Speedster that this is, in fact, the right thing to do.

One of the most iconic, if underrated, supervillain teams in comic book history, the Rogues made their collective debut in the pages of 1965's The Flash #155 by John Broome and Carmine Infantino. This original version of the team consisted of Mirror Master, The Top, Heat Wave, The Pied Piper, and Captain Boomerang, all of whom were led by Captain Cold. Together, the Rogues posed a threat unlike any of them ever could alone, and soon enough, their legacy was forever cemented in the annals of the DC Universe.

The Rogues of the Absolute Universe first appeared in the pages of Absolute Flash #1 by Jeff Lemire and Nick Robles. Like previous iterations of the team, the Absolute Rogues consist of characters commonly associated with the Flash, including Captain Leonard Snart, Glider, Digger Harkness, Trickster, and formerly Mick Rory, aka Project Heatwave. Although the Rogues initially set out to capture Wally West on behalf of Thawne and Doctor Barry Allen, the two of whom are heading up the clandestine Project Olympus that created the likes of Project Heatwave and Grodd in the first place.

A New Era of Daredevil Storytelling Just Confirmed Its Creative Team

The next chapter of Daredevil's story is being told by one of the most hotly anticipated creative teams Marvel comics has seen in years.

Ahead of the release of Absolute Flash, writer Jeff Lemire spoke to CBR about the series and, surprisingly, why dropping concepts like Wally being a legacy hero and the existence of the Speed Force makes it that much more compelling a story. "My real goal with this book was to use Wally's powers as sort of a metaphor for what we all go through as a teenager," Lemire explained. "As we figure out who we are and our identity and our place in the world and everything, and all the fear and anxiety and excitement, but it could come with everything at that age. So I wanted Wally to experience all these things in real time with the reader."

Absolute Flash #9 goes on sale November 19 from DC Comics.
