Alan Ritchson Doesn’t Care That He’s Alienating Half His Audience

Alan Ritchson has built a large audience playing the hard-edged lead in Reacher. But at a Fan Expo event in Canada, the actor admitted something Hollywood often learns only after the damage is done: audiences don’t always want lectures from celebrities who were hired to entertain them. Ritchson has spent 2024–2026 making high-profile, profane attacks on Trump, MAGA, and Trump-supporting Christians while starring in Reacher, a show whose core audience overlaps heavily with the people he is insulting. Examples include calling Trump a “rapist and a con man,” claiming (without new evidence) that “that bitch has the keys to the nuclear” and is “all up into 13-year-olds,” labeling Republicans “pedophiles,” attacking Christians who vote Republican, and saying he cannot “let go” of resentment because it would let “predatory f—ers” continue. Ritchson recently admitted studio executives have called him with a blunt request: “Would you shut the fuck up, please?
