Alexandra Daddario steps into the role of Wonder Woman courtesy of some truly stunning fan art.
As seen in a recent post on DeviantArt, user @marcelorabello has given fans a glimpse at what Percy Jackson & the Olympians film star Alexandra Daddario might look like as Wonder Woman. The fan art, which readers can see for themselves down below, features a more modernized version of Wonder Woman wearing a relatively nondescript outfit compared to the character's usual costumes.
Daddario made her debut in 2002 on All My Children, in which she portrayed Laurie Lewis in an impressive 43-episode run. Over the following years, Daddario appeared in various series such as Law & Order and The Sopranos, as well as films including The Attic and Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience.
In 2010, Daddario had her breakout role as Annabeth Chase in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. Daddario reprised the role for 2013's Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters before finding further success with leading roles in a wide variety of genre films ranging from Texas Chainsaw 3D to Baywatch to Die in a Gunfight.
Image via Warner Bros. DiscoveryEasily one of DC Comics' most popular characters, Wonder Woman has been portrayed by numerous stars across the past five decades. The first of these was Cathy Lee Crosby, who took on the leading role of the 1974 made-for-television Wonder Woman film, although it was Crosby's successor Lynda Carter who has claimed the title of the most popular and recognizable Wonder Woman of all time.
For 59 episodes and a made-for-TV movie pilot, Lynda Carter portrayed the titular hero of Wonder Woman, all the way up until the series' finale in 1979. The classic Wonder Woman series has become such an indelible part of the character's wider mythos that DC Comics revisited it in 2015 with the release of the Wonder Woman '77 Special, which ended up being just one of three comic book specials showcasing Carter's iconic version of the character.
On the silver screen, Wonder Woman has been portrayed across multiple films by Gal Gadot, who made her cinematic debut as the hero in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Gadot went on to reprise the role for both 2017's Wonder Woman and its 2020 sequel, Wonder Woman 1984, as well as Justice League, Shazam!, The Flash, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods. While Gadot's iteration of Wonder Woman did appear in the first season of Peacemaker, she was portrayed by stand-in Kimberley Von Ilberg.
Currently, the DCU as led by DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran is still looking for its Wonder Woman. While Gunn himself confirmed back in June that creatives at DC Studios are "working on Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman's being written right now," there has been no word since then on what another Wonder Woman film might entail, nor who will be taking on the titular role for the project.
