Amazon’s ‘House of David’ Proves Faith-Based TV No Longer Niche

House of David has proven that faith-based entertainment can draw a large audience without winning much attention from Hollywood’s usual media gatekeepers. Prime Video’s Biblical drama reportedly reached 22 million U.S. viewers in its first 17 days, passed 44 million viewers worldwide, and hit No. 1 on the platform’s charts. Now Amazon MGM Studios and Wonder Project have confirmed that Season 3 will be the final chapter of House of David. Production has started in Greece, and the show will end as its creators originally planned, with a three-season story about David’s rise to the throne. Co-creators Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn said, “We’re incredibly grateful to be back in Greece with the cast and crew who’ve given everything to this story.” They added, “Season Three brings us to the final season of this trilogy – the chapter of David’s life we set out to tell from the very beginning.” The final season will follow David after he becomes a hunted outlaw.
