One of the hottest writers in comics right now is Joshua Williamson, the writer of G.I. Joe at Skybound Entertainment (at Image Comics) and for DC, he is the writer of Superman and the co-writer of DC K.O., the red-hot DC crossover pitting the heroes and villains of the DC Universe against each other in a battle royale. Williamson and Scott Snyder are two of the most important figures in the future of the DC Universe. However, luckily for Marvel, while Williamson is doing all of these projects for DC and Image, he is also launching a brand-new Iron Man series for Marvel!

CBR has an exclusive reveal of the three covers for Iron Man #2, as well as the solicitation for the second issue of this highly anticipated new series from Williamson and rising star artist, Carmen Carnerno.

What is this new Iron Man series about?

The new series was revealed back in October as part of New York Comic Con. It deals with Tony Stark thinking back to how the creation of the Iron Man armor was due to the fact that, had he not created it, he would have died, as his heart was going to give out, so he had to build a suit of armor to protect the chestplate that kept his heart beating. Tony thinks, though, about what happens the NEXT time he is near death, will he create something even crazier than the Iron Man armor?

Williamson is quoted in Marvel's press release as noting, “I am a huge Iron Man fan. A massive Iron Man fan... and I knew it was time. I absolutely had to do this. Part of our tagline for this book is that Tony Stark is the most dangerous weapon in the Marvel Universe. When he went into the cave, Tony built the armor... but after I thought about it more, the armor wasn’t what he built in the cave. Tony built Tony.”
