Set to be released in February, Archie x The Army of Darkness #1 will find Riverdale overrun with all manner of Deadite horrors, all while the man himself, Ashley J. Williams, does whatever it takes to send them back to Hell. The story is set to drop Ash Williams into the middle of Riverdale, where none other than Archie Andrews has stumbled upon the Necronomicon Ex Mortis. When Archie unwittingly summons legions of Deadites, it is up to Ash and the residents of Riverdale to fight back and, hopefully, save their town. At least, that is assuming Archie and the rest of the gang are up to the task.

Archie Comics Senior Director of Editorial Jamie L. Rotante said of the upcoming series, "Having read the script for issue #1, I can assure you that Erik Burham's story is going to take readers on a thrill ride that pays homage to the best of both worlds. Plus, Bill Galvan's been an Archie mainstay for years, who continuously impresses us both with his ability to perfectly capture the essence of the Archie characters, while also creating eye-catching, outside-the-box, and sometimes downright horrifying art on his array of specialty variant covers."

Archie x The Army of Darkness #1 will mark just the latest in a long line of surprising crossovers that both the Archie and Evil Dead franchises have experienced in recent years, courtesy of Dynamite Entertainment. While The Army of Darkness has previously held top billing alongside everyone from The Warriors to Red Sonja, Archie Andrews and his fellow Riverdale residents have experienced some equally shocking crossovers of their own. Among the most popular of these was Red Sonja Meets Betty and Veronica, which just so happened to feature appearances from everyone's favorite scantily-clad bloodsucker — Vampirella.
