Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Hint May Have Been Hiding in Plain Sight All Year

Jordan Iacobucci has been an avid reader and movie fan since childhood. Jordan is known among his friends as the Marvel and Star Wars nerd, and even wrote a thirty-page college dissertation about Spider-Man! He has been a staff writer at both Screen Rant and CBR, where he enjoys sharing his love for pop culture with the world.

Marvel has been telling us the release date for Avengers: Doomsday's first trailer all year, if new rumors are to be believed. As the world gears up to experience the very first footage from the upcoming Avengers sequel, the trailer may come much sooner than anyone was expecting—perhaps even by early next week.

Longtime industry scooper Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus recently hinted in an X post that the first Avengers: Doomsday trailer would be released as early as Sunday, Dec. 7th. The post includes a reference to The Fantastic Four: First Steps' marketing campaign, which shows the Richards family making it a point to have a family dinner every Sunday at 7:00 on the dot. The post adds text wondering "What are the chances Avengers: Doomsday's teaser drops on December 7th," followed by additional marked-out text.

This new report comes after numerous sources suggested that audiences would see the first Avengers: Doomsday footage attached to Avatar: Fire and Ash's release in mid-December. Now it seems that the trailer will come a few weeks earlier, with perhaps an extended sneak peek playing before Avatar as well.

The astounding thing about this potential trailer drop is that Marvel Studios may have been teasing its release date all year long. For months, the official Fantastic Four X account has posted the same clip teasing the Richards family's Sunday night dinner. Every Sunday night, at 7:00 pm on the dot, the account posts the same seven-second clip. While this was initially to build hype for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the posting has continued in the months since.

With The Fantastic Four out of theaters and on Disney+, it seems odd that Marvel would continue posting a trailer for the film (especially since the scene itself isn't in the final cut of the movie). Knowing Marvel's recent tendency toward viral marketing, it may be that the studio is teasing something else—something far bigger—for this coming Sunday night.

Will The First Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Release Next Week?

Alex Perez seemingly asserts that the first Avengers: Doomsday trailer may surface online on Sunday at 7:00 p.m., just in time for family dinner. After months of posting the same clip at the same time, Doctor Doom may finally crash The Fantastic Four's family dinner for a look at his upcoming movie.

However, there are some issues with this potential release date. First, multiple sources still maintain that the trailer will be attached to Avatar: Fire and Ash, which doesn't hit theaters until Dec. 19. It would make more sense for Marvel to release the trailer alongside another major movie rather than on a seemingly random Sunday in December. Moreover, the 7:00 p.m. EST release time is later than usual for a movie of this magnitude, as international viewers would likely miss its release until the following day.

Additionally, Perez's post doesn't give any reasoning as to why Dec. 7 would be the day hinted at in The Fantastic Four's family dinner teasers. While his inside information may be more detailed, his post itself never explains why it would be on Dec. 7 rather than Dec. 14 or Dec. 21, the weekend of Avatar: Fire and Ash's release.

Regardless of the exact release date, it is certain that Marvel fans will see the first Doomsday trailer before the end of the month. The film hits theaters on Dec. 18, 2026, just over a year away. Marvel will want to begin marketing now to generate hype for Doomsday's release next year.

Whether it comes this week or Dec. 19, the Avengers: Doomsday trailer won't be shrouded in mystery for much longer. The end of the Multiverse Saga is finally coming into view as the first in its two-part finale gears inches closer to hitting theaters.

Avengers: Doomsday opens in theaters on Dec. 18, 2026.
