Patrik Walker is an Emmy Award–winning writer who covers all things Comics & Superheroes. His work can also be found at the Dallas Cowboys, The Sporting News, and CBS Sports, among other outlets. One of the most respected names in his field, he is also a diehard enthusiast of all things comics, anime, gaming and movies — thriving in spaces where discussions involving those or similar topics reign supreme.
When trying to get a DC Comics or DC Studios project pushed through the red tape, Matt Reeves comes to the rescue, or so it would certainly seem. Having already put his fingerprints on the push to potentially, eventually, get a new Catwoman film to theaters, Reeves didn’t stop there as he also continues his work on and for The Batman Part II, and now with a Star Wars' mastermind on his crew, no less.
Arthur Mintz has been the beneficiary of Reeves’ leverage and expertise, also on the aforementioned Catwoman project, but also on the director’s pitch for Dynamic Duo, an animated DC film in conjunction with Swaybox Studios — of which he is a principal of — he and Reeves making a pitch to David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery for it. But first, Swaybox had to catch people’s attention, as Mintz pointed out when explaining their origin story to Biz New Orleans.
“We thought what we’re doing was cool. But we were in a garage in Shreveport, and we could see that we were about to run out of money. So, we said, ‘Let’s make a little demo reel of what’s possible.’ And that piece went viral.”
So much so that Reeves fell in love with it, having already garnered acclaim from the Planet of the Apes and The Batman franchises, going on to become one of Swaybox’s most passionate and powerful supporters: “Matt had always wanted to make a story about Robin [Batman’s sidekick], and he thought this would be the medium to do it in. So, he called us and we started developing that with him.”

Image via DC ComicsNeedless to say, it’s a massive leap in the right direction for Skybox Studios and the Dynamic Duo project, currently scheduled for release in 2028, and the film will now build around the early days of Robin — including the Jason Todd and Dick Grayson versions of Batman’s right hand.
“The previous projects we worked on were great, but everyone was, ‘We like your style, we like your aesthetic, let’s do that,’” said Chris Armand. “Then when you get into working with them, they’re like, ‘We don’t like that anymore, can you do what we do?’ Matt Reeves and 6th & Idaho were the first people to say ‘We like that, stay doing that. That feels the best.”
And, with that, Reeves gets his hands on yet another touted project by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Discovery and, if his past and future are any indication of what’s to come from Skybox and the Dynamic Duo, it should be an exceptionally fun ride for all involved.
Dynamic Duo is scheduled for release on June 30, 2028.
