Black Salt Comics Series to Finish with New Publisher via Kickstarter

Black Salt – The Last Heroes Left, a comic series merging espionage and political intrigue with ancient martial arts, enters an exciting new phase as Wise Acre Comics partners with Ratti Entertainment to complete the six-issue series and graphic novel adaptation. The series follows Samuel Tharpe, an Interpol agent trained in secret Shaolin arts, as he races to stop a renegade master armed with the deadliest biological weapon ever manufactured.

The franchise has already achieved significant cross-media success:

  • 26-month HBO licensing deal for the award-winning proof-of-concept film

  • Multiple gaming accolades including the GDC Spotlight Award and DreamHack Dallas Best Action-INDIE PLAYGROUND Award for the game demo

  • The feature film is currently in pre-production

“Partnering with Wise Acre Comics was a natural choice,” says Owen Ratliff, Black Salt creator. “Their outstanding work quality, marketing expertise, and success as a black-owned independent publisher align perfectly with our vision to establish Black Salt as a bankable IP.”

Ratti Entertainment is launching a crowdfunding campaign to finish issues #5 and #6, completing the graphic novel1. Supporters can press “Notify me on launch” on the Black Salt Kickstarter Pre-Launch Campaign.

“I started developing my Black Salt franchise over 10 years ago because I was tired of seeing how they depicted black men in TV and film,” Ratliff explains. “I created a black hero who was strong, disciplined and people could look up to.”
