Christopher Nolan to Helm Warner Bros. Live-Action ‘Larry Boy’ Movie

In a bid to appeal to a younger and more mid-western audience, James Gunn has tapped legendary director Christopher Nolan to bring life to their latest acquisition: the Larry Boy Cinematic Universe, and he wants to bring it into the DCU. We here at Bleeding Fool were fortunate enough to get some information about this new project  and more about the changes this morally monumental move would bring to DC’s embattled box office.

BF: “Thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to speak to us, Mr. Nolan. I guess let’s get to the core of the issue: why Larry Boy?”

CN: ” You’re quite welcome. Well, when James (Gunn) approached me with the revelation that DC Studios had acquired the rights to Bumblyburg’s masked moralist, I thought that this is my chance to bring Larry Boy into a new, dark, and edgy future.  He’s still, gonna love God and all that, but the plan is to give him that skirt-the-grey-line feel, you know?  All the other studios had their eyes on the cucumber as the next level super hero.”

BF: “Don’t you think that may be a bit of a controversial take for long time Larry Boy and VeggieTales fans ?

CN: “Not at all. The fans can definitely trust me to handle their sacred cow with the utmost care. My track record says it all. Can you see it? Imagine if we added depth to Larry Boy by giving him a tragic origin? What if the puree-ing of Bob the Tomato really set Larry on a path to vengeance, and the only way he stays remotely grounded is through the war-grizzled wisdom of his loyal manservant Archibald Asparagus? Gives me chills.”

BF: “Oh, wow. Bob gets pureed?”

CN: “Well, maybe figuratively speaking. We still have to get that idea past the test audiences, and my kids. But you know what they say: you can’t make a salad without chopping things up. Bumblyburg is fertile ground for a garden variety of stories.”

Needless to say, we had our trepidations with the project after that reveal. We had nothing but assurances from the team at the DC that the LBCU would be their next and greatest four quadrant movie franchise. It wasn’t said verbally, but we did get a hint that shots were fired at the big boys like Disney and Universal. Time will only tell and we’ll be glad to review it once this thing hits the big screen. Larry Boy: Cucumis Sativis Ascends is set to begin summer of 2052.

That’s all we know this April Fools’ Day, but we’ll keep you posted if scheduling pushes it out even further.
