In an interview with Variety, George Clooney shared an update on the development of the long-awaited continuation of the Ocean’s 14 franchise. The 64-year-old actor outlined the overall tone of the upcoming story, which deliberately plays on the characters’ age, and named a target timeframe for the start of filming.
“We’re too old to do what we used to, but we’re still smart enough”
“The very idea that we’re too old for our old tricks, but still smart enough to pull off a job, really appeals to me,” Clooney admitted. Delivered with his trademark humor, the line instantly set the tone for the whole project: irony, self-awareness, and a deliberate lean into maturity.

Where the “older-but-wiser” take on Ocean’s came from
Clooney emphasized that the motivation for returning was not nostalgia. The source of inspiration was Martin Brest’s 1979 comedy Going in Style, about a group of elderly criminals.
