1 month ago 12

During ComicsPRO, Image Comics imprint Ghost Machine announced two new series. First up, appropriately enough, is First Ghost, written by Brad Meltzer and Geoff Johns, with art by Gene Ha. Launching later this year, it will follow a newly elected President and their young son, as they soon discover their new home, the White House, “is more terrifying than cutthroat politicians and red tape.” It marks another addition to the imprint’s Unnamed Universe, which also consists of Geiger, Junkyard Joe, and Redcoat.

The book will be Melzter’s first comic since 2019’s Marvel Comics #1000. “Geoff and I have been planning this for years,” the author says in the press release. He previously worked with Ha on 2007’s Justice League of America #11. “It’s a dream come true to work with friends and creative titans like Geoff and Gene,” he adds. “Comic books are one of my first creative loves, and I’m thrilled to be part of Ghost Machine, where we can create stories that we’re all invested in.”

Sisterhood #1Sisterhood #1

The second book announced was Sisterhood: A Hyde Street Story, starring Sister Hood, a character who’ll be introduced in Hyde Street #5 (due out April 2). Reteaming It Happened on Hyde Street: Devour writer Maytal Zchut and artist Leila Leiz, the book will “explore co-dependence and revenge in a tale revolving around two life-long friends whose relationship radically changes when one accidentally drowns during a sorority hazing incident. But on Hyde Street, death takes on a terrifying new meaning.” It will launch in July.

Ghost Machine also revealed Leiz has signed an exclusive agreement as a full-time artist for the imprint. “Maytal and I had so much fun working together on Devour that we knew we wanted to tell another story together,” she says. “When Maytal pitched me the story for Sisterhood, I immediately said yes. And when Ghost Machine offered me a chance to work with them on an exclusive basis, it was another easy answer for me.”
