Daredevil and the Punisher have a long history together in both the comics, and in the world of television, with Punisher's return in Daredevil: Born Again being one of the highlights of that series. The two heroes (or anti-hero, in the case of the Punisher), are set to clash in a new miniseries, Daredevil/Punisher: The Devil's Trigger, which starts next week, written by Jimmy Palmiotti with art by Tommaso Bianchi.

Palmiotti told CBR's Sean O'Connell recently, "New York is now wide open with the fall of the Gnucci empire and we have three major players introduced into the mix that operate a bit differently than the Gnucci clan and the Punisher and Daredevil will have their hands full with them and especially Matt Murdock with the idea that some of the people taking over are people he put away that are now out of jail way before their time. There is something deeper going on and they both want to get to the bottom of this, just in totally different ways. Frank is only interested in a body count at this point and it is driving Daredevil insane."

CBR has an exclusive preview of the first issue of the series...

A New Era Of The Punisher Begins With ‘Raw And Relentless’ Story Creator Swears Will Honor Character’s Roots

After rejuvenating the Marvel Knights brand with Black Panther, the saga continues with The Punisher, and we got the scoop from Jimmy Palmiotti.

In the preview pages, we open with Daredevil tied upside down, having clearly just been in a fight with the Punisher. He flashes back to the start of this problem. He was approached by one of the associates of the Gnucci crime family, the one that Punisher destroyed in the classic "Welcome Back, Frank" storyline.

Now, Matt Murdock is handling one of the last remaining members of the Gnucci crime family in court, and ironically, this time the charge is a bogus one, but Matt knows that the Punisher is not someone who cares about legal tecnicalities, and so Matt is pretty sure that he will run afoul of the Punisher on this case.

Of course, Matt Murdock is more than just a lawyer, so the preview pages open with him going into action as Daredevil to find out more information. Obviously, we know that means he will run into a Punisher-sized buzzsaw later, but HOW that goes down you'll have to pick up a copy of Daredevil/Punisher: The Devil's Trigger #1 next week to find out!
