Almost 40 years ago, following his departure from Daredevil, the series that made him a superstar, Frank Miller wrote and drew the iconic miniseries, The Dark Knight Returns (technically Batman: The Dark Knight, with "The Dark Knight Returns" just the name of the first issue of the series, but the whole series is now colloquilally referred to as The Dark Knight Returns), which saw Bruce Wayne returning to being Batman in a grim future. Now, Daredevil will be starring in his own version of The Dark Knight Returns in Daredevil: Cold Day in Hell.
Written by former Daredevil writer, Charles Soule, and drawn by superstar artist, Steve McNiven (who previously worked with Soule on the hit series, The Death of Wolverine), the series will be set in a grim future where Matt Murdock, who lost his enhanced senses years ago, regains his abilities, and returns as Daredevil. The first issue of the series will feature a variant cover from Frank Miller himself! The series is set to debut in April, while Daredevil: Born Again is still airing.

What do Charles Soule and Steve McNiven have to say about the project?
The Marvel press release announcing the series had some quotes from Soule and McNiven. Soule noted, "This book was extremely collaborative in a way that was a bit of an experiment for us, a back and forth discussion as scripts and inks and dialogue and colors came in throughout, and I think people are going to see that on the page. Steve called it ‘jazz’ at one point, and I don't think that's so far off. I'm really proud of all the work I've done with Steve, but this one really stands out.”
Steve McNiven added,"This is definitely a story that fits in with all of the other things Charles and I have collaborated on over the years, and is probably the most ambitious. A unique type of work that could only happen after years of working together and trusting each other’s abilities.” McNiven, of course, also famously drew the hit Wolverine storyline, "Old Man Logan," with Mark Millar, that told a similar type of story with Wolverine.
