Yes, Disney has its hands full with Marvel Studios and all that comes with it, including (and headlined by) the upcoming trailer for Avengers: Doomsday — or rather, trailers, plural — each baked into another one of the company's record-setting blockbusters, Avatar: Fire and Ash, dropping Dec. 19, worldwide. That isn't taking the company's attention away from two of its biggest hits, though: The Little Mermaid and Frozen.
Both of those classic franchises, the former having been rebooted as a live-action film starring Halle Bailey in 2023, are getting a refresh, of sorts, but this time it'll be on bookshelves and not at the box office. In conjunction with Papercutz, a kids' comics subsidiary of Mad Cave Studios, Disney is reimagining the tale of both Ariel and Anna for readers in 2026.
Look for Disney The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Adventure Journal on February 24, 2026, and Disney Frozen Anna’s Adventure Journal: Behind the Castle Walls taking to shelves on March 3, 2026, with beautiful artwork and lettering to match.

Disney Heroines Have a Story to Tell
Image via DisneyThese are two of the most well-known and celebrated animated series of all-time, so there will be no shortage of fans looking forward to seeing what comes next. One look at the cover of The Little Mermaid alone, and seeing Ariel smiling while enjoying her land legs, hints at a fun adventure being on the horizon for her. And then there's Anna, who looks more than ready to carve a path for herself going forward, having no interest in letting it go (sorry, I had to).
There's more fun to be had as well, considering Mulan's Adventure Journal: The Palace of Secrets arrives on February 17, 2026, and The Princess and the Frog Tiana's Journal landing on March 24, 2026, rounding out a four-part series designed for middle-grade readers and basically anyone and everyone who has ever had their heart melted by these Disney heroines.
