The following contains major spoilers for Doom Academy #1, on sale now from Marvel Comics.
The Marvel Universe finally has a school to rival Hogwarts, and it's all Doctor Doom's fault.
Doom Academy #1 opens to the sight of Doctor Doom's frightening visage offering an unexpected welcome to a whole host of young visitors who have recently arrived in his home country of Latveria. As it turns out, Doom has taken the opportunity to open his own institute for the next generation of Masters of the Mystic Arts in the form of Doom Academy. And, with his newfound, self-proclaimed position as the supreme leader of the entire planet, it was only fitting that he invite the students of the former Sorcerer Supreme's Strange Academy for a visit to his decidedly more fantastical replacement school.

First seen in 2020's Strange Academy #1 by Skottie Young and Humberto Ramos, the eponymous school in question was founded by Doctor Strange not long after his victory over the alien army led by the Imperator restored the magic of the Marvel Universe. Much like Charles Xavier's iconic school provided a home and training ground for young mutants, Strange Academy was built with the express purpose of helping budding young Masters of the Mystic Arts from every realm hone their innate abilities. Staffed by some of the greatest mages and sorcerers of all time, Strange Academy was the perfect place for the likes of the heir to the Dark Dimension, Doyle Dormammu, and even the sons of the Asgardian Enchantress Amora.
Although Strange Academy stayed open for years and in spite of some truly harrowing circumstances, it could not survive the loss of its founder. Or rather, it could not survive its founder's loss of his mantle of Sorcerer Supreme. During the events of Marvel's Blood Hunt crossover, Doctor Strange was preyed upon and transformed into one of Blade's vampiric scions. By separating his astral and physical forms, Strange was able to largely corral his raging vampiric body, though he was in no position to push back against the vampiric onslaught as a whole. As such, Strange had no choice but to relinquish his title to Doctor Doom, the latter of whom quickly set about parting the Dark Force shroud that had enveloped the Earth.

Marvel’s New Champions Just Called Out Comic Book Collectors Everywhere
The latest member of the New Champions has given comic book collectors an important reason to examine exactly what it is they do with their time.
For months after assuming the title of Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Doom hid behind a mystic shield he had cast over Latveria. This drew the attention of heroes such as the Fantastic Four, who were well aware that nothing good could come of whatever Doom was working on in secret. In a devastating blow to Marvel's First Family, Doctor Doom managed to trick his old enemies into helping him recover the enchanted Fabled Blade, or Doom Blade. The power of this fabled sword was just what the villain needed to claim dominion over the entire world, kicking off Marvel Comics' ongoing "One World Under Doom" crossover event.
