One of the best Dungeons & Dragons series is about to return with a new chapter starring a fan-favorite cast of adventurers.
On Mar. 11, Dark Horse Comics' hit Dungeons & Dragons: The Fallbacks series by writer Greg Pak and artists Wilton Santos, Edvan Alves, and Raúl Angulo will return with its long-awaited second issue. The series premiered back in October to rave reviews, bringing the heroes of Jaleigh Johnson's 2024 novel Dungeons & Dragons: The Fallbacks: Bound for Ruin to the realm of comics for the very first time.
Dungeons & Dragons: The Fallbacks has previously been compared to 2023's hit film, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, which starred Chris Pine, Sophia Lillis, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, and Justice Smith as the members of an unlikely band of heroes brought together to stop a cataclysmic threat. With it becoming increasingly unlikely that the film will ever receive a proper follow-up, Dungeons & Dragons: The Fallbacks is the perfect next step for fans of the franchise.

The official solicit synopsis for Dungeons & Dragons: The Fallbacks #2 from Dark Horse Comics reads, "The Fallbacks have plundered the Lost Lord of Loudwater’s tomb, but the treasure may not be worth the trouble. As a fearsome white dragon, apparently awoken by the Fallbacks’ heist, descends upon Loudwater, the party rushes to defend the town."
The solicit synopsis continues, "Can they fend off the draconic menace before it freezes all of Loudwater? Also, a new challenge arises: the Tournament of Heroes! It’s the perfect opportunity for the Fallbacks to show up Angrilyne’s team, if they can win..."
What Is Dungeons & Dragons: The Fallbacks About?
Image via Dark HorseThe eclectic party of adventurers known as the Fallbacks made their debut in Jaleigh Johnson's Dungeons & Dragons: The Fallbacks: Bound for Ruin, which was released in 2024 to widespread acclaim. The Fallbacks consist of ambitious young rogue Tessalynde, stubborn fighter Anson, self-taught wizard Cazrin, cunning cleric Baldric, the secret songwriter bard Lark, and their pet otyugh, Uggie.
Dungeons & Dragons: The Fallbacks: Bound for Ruin followed the eponymous heroes in their quest to retrieve a mysterious spellbook, only to be left caring for a sentient grimoire with a thirst for mortal blood. Fortunately, the Fallbacks managed to survive even the worst encounters with the likes of malevolent mercenaries and the ranks of the undead. Now, the Dark Horse Comics series has pitted the Fallbacks against an entirely new team of adventurers, who appear to be just the first of many they will cross paths with in the months to come.
Dungeons & Dragons: The Fallbacks from Dark Horse Comics is on sale now.
