EXCLUSIVE: New Thunderbolts Series Teases Doom's Arrival

CBR can exclusively share solicitations for the two final issues of Marvel Comics' upcoming "One World Under Doom" event tie-in series, Thunderbolts: Doomstrike. The inaugural entry of the five-issue limited series, which promises the epic clash of two Thunderbolts factions, will debut next week.

In Marvel's Thunderbolts: Doomstrike, Doom will assemble a new and classic iteration of the titular team. After Bucky Barnes inadvertently aids Doom’s power grab by assembling a team of black-ops heavy hitters to pursue the world’s most dangerous individuals, he becomes the leader of the resistance to atone for his mistake. As Bucky leads his incarnation of the Thunderbolts to bring down Doom, the conqueror responds by recruiting original members such as Moonstone, Atlas, and Fixer. Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing penned the series, drawn by Tommaso Bianchi (Giant-Size Silver Surfer). In addition to Lenil Francis Yu's main covers, Rod Reis and Ivan Talavera provide variant covers for Thunderbolts: Doomstrike #4 and #5, respectively.

Marvel Rules Out Another Popular Choice for the Next Venom

The mystery behind the identity of Marvel's All-New Venom is getting closer to being answered, one suspect at a time.

With the eponymous team about to debut in live-action in Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts*, which premieres on May 2, Thunderbolts: Doomstrike will set the stage. The series' creators are only too happy to bring the mega-sized Thunderbolts story to fans and are excited to play within the "One World Under Doom" event sandbox. "We can't wait for folks to see what Ryan and company have planned for One World Under Doom - a Marvel event with brains, heart, and incredible scope," Kelly and Lanzing said. "The Thunderbolts are a crucial part of the puzzle: this is the story of what happens when heroes openly oppose Doom... and how they'll have to learn to fight differently if they're ever to make a difference."

The writers continued, "With returning characters and storylines we've been building since our run on Captain America: Sentinel Of Liberty, plus new and returning Thunderbolts from all eras, Thunderbolts: Doomstrike is a whole new take on Marvel's messiest, meanest superteam - a story about fighting the power, even if it costs you everything."

Thunderbolts: Doomstrike #4 will debut on May 14, while Thunderbolts: Doomstrike #5 will arrive in comic book shops on May 21, 2025.
