Dynamite Entertainment is about to release a whole new rendition of The Wizard of Oz that fans didn't know they needed.

Per a press release from Dynamite Entertainment, the fan-favorite publisher is teaming up with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products to bring fans The Wizard of Oz: The Official Film Adaptation Graphic Novel. Written and illustrated by Disney Villains: Maleficent and Thundercats: Cheetara scribe Soo Lee, The Wizard of Oz: The Official Film Adaptation Graphic Novel is currently available via a Kickstarter page that offers fans a whole host of goodies, assuming they get in on the ground floor.

  • Exclusive variant covers by JAE LEE; ERIC SHANOWER; and ALEX ROSS

Among the various special editions of The Wizard of Oz: The Official Film Adaptation Graphic Novel available to backers are variant covers by Jae Lee, Eric Shanower, and the legendary Alex Ross. Lithograph prints of each cover are also available, as are signed versions of each print and each corresponding edition of the graphic novel. One lucky backer even has the chance to take home Jae Lee's original cover art along with the matching hardcover edition of the book.

"I’m not reinventing the wheel, but I’m adding my interpretation to the history of this legendary story," said The Wizard of Oz: The Official Film Adaptation Graphic Novel writer and artist Soo Lee. "I was allowed more pages to indulge in and take my time on certain scenes, so I took advantage of the comics medium, as well as added scenes that were deleted from the film. So there may be things some fans of the movie may not have known about! I wanted to really shine light on Dorothy and her friends’ relationships and emotions."

The debut of the Kickstarter for The Wizard of Oz: The Official Film Adaptation Graphic Novel follows hot on the heels of the release of Wicked: For Good, the feature film follow-up to 2024's Wicked starring Centhia Erivo and Ariana Grande. Wicked: For Good arrived in theaters on November 22, and almost immediately raked in more than $750 million against a $150 million production budget. Despite its overwhelming box office success, Wicked: For Good has fallen shy of its predecessor's stellar critical reviews, currently holding a 70% "Fresh" score via review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

The Wizard of Oz: The Official Film Adaptation Graphic Novel is currently available via the official Kickstarter. Hardcover, paperback, and digital editions of The Wizard of Oz: The Official Film Adaptation Graphic Novel are expected to arrive in June 2026.
