Jason is an award-winning journalist whose writing career dates back to when he developed the ability to use a crayon. He, most notably, worked previously as a "professional fan," as he likes to call it, at CinemaBlend, for which he wrote about anything and everything under the pop culture umbrella... especially Batman. His passion for the art of cinema began even earlier, stemming from repeat viewings of The Wizard of Oz.
This initially led him to pursue a career in filmmaking -- and even work briefly in the industry as an extra in the straight-to-video family film, Alice Upside Down -- before deciding that his talents would be better served discussing and showing appreciation for the various forms of entertainment he is passionate about.
There are holidays meant for the public to enjoy, such as Halloween, Christmas, and Thanksgiving. There are also holidays created specifically for comic book fans, the most notable of which is Free Comic Book Day.
Readers all over the United States and Canada are gearing up for Free Comic Book Day 2026, for which top publishers are unleashing a hefty amount of exclusive titles priced at absolutely nothing.
For instance, on the DC side of things, fans will not find any free Batman-led stories. However, there are still some intriguing titles from the comics giant to check out, like the child-friendly Aquamanatee #1 Special Edition and a reprint of the premiere issue of James Tynion IV's modern classic horror comic book, The Nice House on the Lake, in honor of the Vertigo imprint's return.
There are also plenty of favorites from some of the most revered independent publishers to look out for. Fans of Arnold Schwarzenegger's legendary swords and sorcery character will not want to miss Titan Comics' Conan the Barbarian: Tides of the Tyrant King #0, and Mad Cave Studios presents a new tale featuring everyone's favorite teen football player-turned-intergalactic hero in Flash Gordon #1.
There will even be titles featuring characters who originate from other media available on Free Comic Book Day. Dynamite Entertainment has a story involving the blue alien from Disney's Lilo & Stitch and another based on the hit CW series, Supernatural.

Comics Giveaway Day Debuts In 2026
Image via Marvel ComicsIt appears that comic book fans are receiving two special holidays in one this year. In addition to the return of Free Comic Book Day, the first-ever Comics Giveaway Day is also occurring in 2026.
What exactly is the difference between Free Comic Book Day and Comics Giveaway Day? Not much at all, save that the latter, an additional event in which select titles are available to fans at no cost, is presented by Penguin Random House. Diamond Comics has been the distributor of Free Comic Book Day since its infancy.
Comics Giveaway Day will also take place on the same day as its predecessor, but will offer a separate selection of stories for readers to pick up where available. For instance, Marvel has an interesting collection of titles, including two involving the world's favorite webslinger, as well as a prequel to the upcoming Predator vs. the Planet of the Apes that also throws a Xenomorph from Alien into the mix.
There are even more exciting crossovers to look forward to, such as Dark Horse's He-Man and the Masters of the Universe / Dungeons & Dragons, which features dual tales of adventure inspired by two of the most popular fantasy franchises of all time. Boom! Studios is also delivering Jem and the Holograms / My Little Pony Flipbook for those nostalgic for Saturday morning cartoons of a lighter variety.
Speaking of old school children's programming, BOOM! Studios is also releasing a special Power Rangers comic for Comics Giveaway Day. Power Rangers #0 serves as a special preview of the upcoming Power Rangers: Green, which follows the return of the Green Ranger, Tommy Oliver.
