Wonder Woman and Justice League star Gal Gadot shares her original screen test with Ben Affleck.

Gadot shared her original Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice screen test via Instagram earlier today, giving fans a glimpse at a deleted scene featuring her Diana Prince and Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne. Gadot also wrote, "Twelve years ago today, I was cast as Wonder Woman. What a wild, life-changing ride with a character I love so much. I thought it would be fun to share my camera test with Ben — I watched it last night for the first time."

In the screen test sequence, Bruce approaches Diana after she gets out of a cab, much to her chagrin, and warns her that Lex Luthor knows who she is. While Diana is unbothered by this development, Bruce makes it clear that he has a vested interest in keeping her safe, leading to a tense conversation between the two that offers some serious insights into their apparently long-standing relationship.

Gadot made her debut as Diana Prince, better known as Wonder Woman, in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice before reprising the role for both Wonder Woman and Justice League the following year. While both Batman v Superman and Justice League were met with mixed and decidedly middling reviews overall, Wonder Woman was met with generally rave reviews from critics and audiences alike.

In 2020, Gadot's solo outing received a sequel in the form of Wonder Woman 1984 by returning director Patty Jenkins. The sequel further fleshed out Wonder Woman's backstory in the DCEU and introduced new versions of classic characters, including Maxwell Lord as portrayed by Pedro Pascal and Barabra Minerva, aka Cheetah, as portrayed by Kristen Wiig.

Unfortunately, Wonder Woman 1984 failed to replicate any of the success that its predecessor enjoyed at the box office. During its original theatrical run, Wonder Woman 1984 only managed to gross $169.6 million against a $200 million production budget. For comparison, 2017's Wonder Woman made more than $824 million at the box office against a budget of only $149 million.

DC Movies Have Had A Complicated Relationship With Critics Scores

Wonder Woman 1984 also received largely negative reviews upon its release. As of the time of writing, Wonder Woman 1984 holds a mere 57% "Fresh" rating via review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, as averaged across 456 verified critical reviews of the film. For comparison, Wonder Woman currently holds a 93% "Certified Fresh" rating via Rotten Tomatoes, as averaged across 476 verified critical reviews.

Gadot's final DCEU appearances as Wonder Woman came in 2023 courtesy of two brief cameos in Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash. While The Flash managed to garner mixed if generally positive reviews, Shazam! Fury of the Gods was widely regarded as a dud all around by critics. Star Zachary Levi recently offered his defense of the film, noting, "The audience score is still quite good."

"But the critics’ score was, I don’t know, very oddly and perplexingly low, and people were insanely unkind," Levi continued. "Listen, I’ve been a part of things and as much as I wish that they were good, I know that they’re OK, I know they missed a lot. I’m not saying Shazam! Fury of the Gods is some perfect Orson Welles masterpiece, but it’s a good darn movie.”

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is streaming on HBO Max.
