Ghost Rider #24-25 (2008): 1st Deacon

Johnny Blaze is overcome by the spirit of vengeance and appears in a prison, telling the warden that he intends to punish all the inmates. Most guys who work at prisons would welcome that, right?

Anyway, it turns out that an inmate who goes by Deacon is a servant of the archangel Zakiel, and Blaze is hunting down the angel.

They fight. Johnny beats him senseless with a Bible.

We don’t see Zadkiel in these issues but we’ll get to him soon enough.

Not much advances the overall story here, but I dig the concept that Blaze’s life has been ruined by asshole angels so he’s on the warpath to burn them all.
