These are ostensibly the Secret Invasion tie-in issues, but that aspect of the story is fairly bland. What’s interesting here is that we see that Star-Lord and Mantis conspired to create this new team, using Mantis’ powers to coerce them.
During the adventure against the skrulls, the team falls apart. Drax goes all bezerker nuts. Starfox returns and tries to kidnap Major Victor and force him to return to the future. Even the dog Cosmo is in league with the skrulls.
Once Mantis and Quill’s duplicity is revealed, the team breaks up.
There is another issue coming, though, so it’s not over.
