‘I Am Legend 2’ Pushing Ahead With Will Smith & Michael B. Jordan

I Am Legend 2 is still moving forward, even after four years in development. Screenwriter Akiva Goldsman says Warner Bros. has faced setbacks, but he isn’t giving up on the sequel to Will Smith’s 2007 hit. Goldsman will write the screenplay, while Steven Caple Jr., director of Creed II, is set to direct. Smith and Michael B. Jordan are attached to star. The project remains in early development, and Goldsman told Radio Times that production has not been easy. “I have run up against a series of obstacles that I refuse to allow to defeat me. That is the truth of that one. We’re pressing on. We’re trying. We’re doing everything we can to get it made.” Smith said in May 2024 that he was excited about returning, while Jordan confirmed in June that the script was still being refined. Goldsman said the second draft was completed in July 2024. The sequel will reportedly take place decades after the original. Goldsman has said it will show nature taking back abandoned cities, much like The Last of Us.
