Incredible Hercules #121-125 (2008-2009): Love & War

Hercules seeks to relax after the big Secret Invasion story so he tries to get laid by Namora, only while he’s in Atlantis, Amazons attack.

The Amazons know Hercules from his 12 labors, which we see in flashback.

So this is that kind of a story. The Amazon Artume chooses Amadeus Cho to be her consort after he is able to help her find a mystical object that will help her regain Amazonian rule.

Amadeus also ends up dating Delphyne Gorgon…

She has joined with the Amazons to try to kill Athena, who is at war with Hera. Hera is supporting the Amazons, while Athena and other Gods are the opposition. Hercules is with them.

Artume and Delphyne end up fighting over Amadeus, and Artume appears to kill Delphyne by spearing her in the back. Artume then performs a mystic rite that reshapes reality and puts her in charge of Earth. There’s also a trip to the world of Mayday Parker.

But Hercules, Namora, and the troops of Athena come after her, saver Amadeus, and fix the timestream, ending with Artume turning to stone and breaking down into pieces–seemingly dead.

And Delphyne (who didn’t die, of course), becomes queen of the Amazons of the 616 reality.
