The Invincible universe is getting bigger than ever as Invincible VS gets ready to introduce a brand-new hero.

Publisher Skybound Games and developer Quarter Up have just unveiled the next powerhouse to enter the Invincible universe, and Ella Mental looks absolutely incredible. An original character from franchise co-creators Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker, Ella Mental is a humble yet affluent young hero who was given the ancient totem that imbues her with her powers by her late grandfather.

Voiced by "Mumbo Jumbo" and "Tip Toe" rapper Tierra Whack, Ella Mental will be making her debut when the hotly anticipated Invincible VS fighting game from Quarter Up and Skybound Games arrives in April 2026. Capable of controlling the elements of earth, air, water, and fire, Ella Mental will offer players a unique gameplay style that relies as much on finesse as it does on utterly devastating attacks.

Primarily a ranged fighter, Ella Mental uses various Elemental Auras to charge up and upgrade her Special Moves, which range from calling upon a wall of earth, unleashing crushing blasts of water, and even setting off a series of major explosions across the skyline. Invincible co-creator and writer Robert Kirkman described the process of crafting Ella Mental for Invincible VS, recalling, "What was cool was that this idea gave Cory Walker and I an opportunity to create someone new. Our way into the character was a ridiculous-sounding name we came up with: Ella Mental. We thought, 'Hey, look at that, that sounds like an Invincible-type name.'"

Invincible co-creator and artist Cory Walker added, "The name originated from Robert, and from that came the element-based powerset. I just started throwing stuff on her, and it was important that everything be asymmetrical, and just overall cool-looking."

Announced back in June, Invincible VS is set to be the very first game released by Skybound Entertainment, not to mention the first developed by the company's in-house studio, Quarter Up. Described as a "brutal tournament-quality 3v3 tag fighting game," Invincible VS will feature characters from across the Invincible franchise, including Thula, Atom Eve, Bulletproof, and, of course, Invincible himself, Mark Grayson. Apart from the multiplayer mode, Invincible VS will also offer players an expansive single-player story mode written by the creative team behind Amazon Prime's Invincible streaming series.

Invincible VS executive producer Mike Willette said following the game's announcement, "We're hyper focused on this game right now. We want this game to amaze people. We want them to fall in love with the characters and the world of Invincible. There’s so much rich lore and badass-ness that we just want people to get their chance to play with us."

Skybound Games chief Chris Paulson went on to sing high praises of the Quarter Up development team, which includes talent from studios such as Activision Blizzard, Amazon Game Studios, Double Helix Games, Riot Games, and Naughty Dog. "I think about our team as a group of fighting-game fans making games for the fighting-game community, and we’re trying to create a game that matches what people want," Paulson said.

Invincible VS is currently slated to release for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X/S on April 30, 2026.
