On Friday it looked like Hollywood’s Paramount was looking to leave California behind. On LaCa reporter Jeff Vaughn said Texas is now off the table and the studio is soley focused on Nashville instead. Paramount leaders ran a verbal survey with dozens of key employees. Tennessee won. Austin, Texas is still in play. Franklin, Tennessee is getting the most votes from staff right now. Real estate agents in Nashville had been fielded calls from Paramount executives who want to relocate. Vaughn’s source put it simply. “Buckle up.” This move talk was no bluff either. David Ellison’s Paramount Skydance has been locked in a fight with California Attorney General Rob Bonta. Bonta and a group of states are trying to stop Paramount’s big deal for Warner Bros. Discovery. Ellison has said he may pull the company’s headquarters out of California if the legal pressure keeps up. According to Vaughn, Tennessee has been working to land the studio. Larry Ellison’s Oracle is already building its world headquarters in Nashville. Neither Texas nor Tennessee has a state income tax. California does.
