The Witcher's latest comic book era is set to come to a close later this month. Dark Horse has revealed new information about the series finale of The Witcher: The Bear and the Butterfly.
The publisher has unveiled beautiful cover art for the upcoming issue by Stephen Green, as well as a preview at the interior pages of the explosive series finale. The synopsis teases that "Geralt and Tila present the killer to the townsfolk, but where monsters roam, so flows deceit. A decades' long grudge shows its true face. And the Graf’s oath is put to the test as the bounty is but one prize to be claimed." The Witcher: The Bear and the Butterfly #4 goes on sale on Nov. 12, 2025.

The five preview pages of the new issue give fans a deeper look at the meaning behind the name of The Bear and the Butterfly, with one of the franchise's signature villainous monsters launching a timely attack. The series itself launched earlier this year, telling the story of Geralt's arrival in Dol Gwyn — a northern village in the region that has been attracting several monster hunters thanks to a large bounty that's been put on a vampire.
Over the course of the series, Geralt launches his own investigation and begins hunting down monsters of his own, and he soon realizes that the situation in Dol Gwyn is much more complicated than it appears on the surface. As the series heads into its finale, fans are likely to finally get some answers to some of the many mysteries that have been introduced throughout.
The Witcher: The Bear and the Butterfly is the latest in a long-running collaboration between Dark Horse Comics and The Witcher franchise. Dark Horse's comics date back to 2014 and are based on CD Projekt's Witcher universe, delivering mostly original stories not a part of Andrzej Sapkowski's novel series that the franchise is based upon.
The Witcher Fans Have Been Enjoying Dark Horse's Latest Comic Series
Image via NetflixWhile The Witcher: The Bear and the Butterfly may be preparing to come to a close, it's following closely on the heels of another Witcher adaptation, with Netflix dropping the fourth season of its hit television series on Oct. 30. The new episodes saw Liam Hemsworth taking over the role of Geralt from Henry Cavill, but fans haven't been resonating with the switch up. The new season is the only one to be deemed 'rotten' on Rotten Tomatoes, with a disappointing audience approval score of only 19%.
Fans have felt more positively toward The Bear and the Butterfly, though. In CBR's review of the first issue, writer Chase Magnett said that it set the bar for licensed comics stories. "The Witcher: The Bear and The Butterfly #1 is as excellent of a start to a new Witcher story as any fan might hope for," Magnett said. "What's more is that it’s an outstanding dark fantasy tale on its own terms. The issue doesn’t require any appreciation of Witcher lore to fall into this haunted town and begin chasing the conspiracies afflicting it."
The Witcher: The Bear and the Butterfly #4 goes on sale on Nov. 12, 2025 from Dark Horse Comics.
